Overview
Own and scale Screen Rant’s Business Entertainment coverage - where Hollywood meets Wall Street. You’ll set strategy, lead a growing team, and ship authoritative reporting and analysis on earnings, M&A, streaming economics, labor, advertising, and the broader media/tech landscape.
Your Responsibilities
- Site Leadership
- Lead the Business Entertainment vertical, aligning strategy with Screen Rant objectives.
- Liaise with Corporate operations on progress, challenges, resourcing, and operational needs.
- Run weekly editorial meetings; communicate progress on traffic/output goals and site initiatives.
- Participate in pitch meetings to steer focus and maintain a sharp editorial POV.
- Audit and Optimization
- Audit current Business Entertainment coverage to find gaps and expansion areas.
- Partner with SEO/data on testing packages, title approaches, and internal linking.
- Content Strategy & Planning
- Research and identify traffic-driving topics using data from internal and external tools, expanding coverage of Business Entertainment-related topics.
- Source stories, breaking news, and unique angles for writers and editors to ensure engaging, authoritative content.
- Maintain and optimize a comprehensive catalog of articles covering a variety of Business Entertainment topics.
- Identify traffic-driving topics via internal tools and external market signals (earnings calendars, SEC/SEDAR filings, ratings/box office/streaming data, ad-spend trends, regulatory actions).
- Expand coverage on: earnings and guidance, M&A and valuations, streaming subs/ARPU/engagement, box office and theatrical windows, labor/union developments, agency/packaging, CTV/FAST, licensing/IP, theme parks/experiential, and regulatory/antitrust.
- Team Management & Development
- Build and lead a team of skilled writers and editors with a passion for Business Entertainment.
- Collaborate with HR to identify and onboard new talent, including writers and editors.
- Manage the development and training of the editorial team to ensure quality and output targets are met.
- Ensure adherence to ScreenRant’s publication standards, offering regular feedback and performance assessments.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages creativity and professional growth.
Experience and Skills:
- Senior editorial experience (Senior Editor, Managing Editor, Deputy Editor, EIC) at a digital publication covering business/finance or entertainment/media.
- Exemplary writing/editing chops with a track record of fast, accurate breaking coverage and sharp analysis.
- Fluency in earnings, filings, and industry metrics (box office, ratings, streaming KPIs, ad markets).
- Experience with SEO and analytics (e.g., GA, Search Console, Ahrefs) and newsroom experimentation.
- Proven success managing freelancers and building teams to expand coverage and drive traffic.
- Strong leadership, prioritization, and multi-project management skills.
